Any claim that depends on law, building code, pricing, rebates, product availability, or professional licensing names the state or region it applies to, because those requirements differ considerably from one jurisdiction to the next and change over time.
The company behind the site is registered in Quebec, Canada. The publication is written for and directed at the United States market; the Canadian registration is where the business is filed, not who the guidance is for.
How guides are made
Sources come first. Where a guide states a requirement, an interval, or a safety threshold, that claim is attributed to a source we actually consulted. We prefer government agencies, regulators, standards bodies, and manufacturer documentation. Every published guide lists its sources with the date we accessed them.
We do not invent authority. We do not fabricate credentials, quotes, product tests, or first-hand experience. If a guide does not say we tested something, we did not test it.
Higher-risk topics carry higher requirements. Guidance touching electrical, gas, structural, fire, mold, asbestos, insurance, financial, permit, or legal matters cannot be published without sources, a named reviewer, and a recorded review date. The publishing system enforces this rather than trusting anyone to remember it.
Guides carry review dates. Requirements change. Every published guide records when it was last reviewed and when it should next be checked.
We say when a job is not yours to do. A great deal of home maintenance is genuinely a homeowner task. Some of it is not, and in places it is not lawful for a homeowner to perform. Where that line falls, we say so.

Optional forms let readers request free guides and templates and subscribe to the newsletter, and limited Meta advertising measurement runs only on those campaigns' signup, thank-you, and download pages. Fill-in templates stay with the reader; the site does not receive what someone types into them. Our privacy policy explains what those services receive and the choices available to readers.
